Fishtastic Tackle

So last week I was lucky enough to do my first piece of commissioned work! Fishtastic Tackle contacted me and wanted an illustration done for their newest advertisement. After some talks about what direction they wanted to go we ended with the following poster/advert which will be featured in a magazine next month! Feels nice to have my first piece of commissioned work out in the public eye and I'm glad to have worked with fishtastic tackle and looking forward to possible future endeavors with them! If you're into fishing then please check them out at http://www.fishtastictackle.com/

Cosmic Dive

Although speed painting isn't the best for learning, because I'm working a lot this summer I'm finding them a really good way of keeping up my art skills after work! This little piece was for the topic "Cosmic Dive" :)

Impact

So I've been trying out Kuldar Leement's 3D render pack which has these crazy looking textures. I wanted to put together a little environment using them and this was the result! They're really nice for making a quick base for an alien/fantasy world :)

Underwater Experience

Recently been struggling with artists block or laziness, whatever you'd rather call it. After doing speed paints in the past a lot and realizing they aren't a very good way to learn I said I'd stick clear of them. That being said, I found doing this speed paint was exactly what the doctor ordered in terms of getting me back into an art rhythm. Let's hope I can keep it up :) ~50 mins

Fantasy Environment

So I've been meaning to check out Jonas De Ro's fantasty landscape tutorial on Digital Tutors for a while now and I finally got round to watching it and creating my own piece from it! I wanted to take his techniques but do a piece which was of my own idea and not just a carbon copy of his environment. Overall pretty satisfied as I think the piece turned out ok and I learnt some really useful tips during the process. Feel like I could improve some parts but I didn't wanna spend the next ten weeks detailing myself into oblivion! :)

Virtual Plein Air

Seems like the newest trend in the art world is to do these "Virtual Plein Air" pieces. By finding an interesting location and a shot from google earth to then do a study paint on. I tried my hand at this as well as trying out John Silva's latest smudge brush pack.
